Belayers:
Movement will provide belayers for the competition. All belayers will be Movement instructors or coaches who have completed additional training specific to lead belaying in the cave.
Competition Format:
This competition will follow a Flash format, meaning each competitor gets one attempt on their designated route.
Competitors are allowed to watch other competitors climb and discuss route beta before their attempt. There will be a designated warm-up and preparation area in the main bouldering zone, and competitors will be called up according to the running order.
In short:
- 1 attempt per competitor
- Watching other competitors is allowed
- Discussing route beta is allowed
- Warm up in the designated area while you wait for your turn
- Competitors will be called up based on the running order
Prizes:
Everyone competes for the chance to win! We'll be raffling off tons of prizes in every category, including climbing ropes, shoes, bags, and plenty of Gramicci swag.
All competitors are automatically entered into the prize raffle.
Scoring:
There will be one route for each competition category: Recreational, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Your score will be based on the highest hold you successfully reach before falling. Each hold on the route will have an assigned point value.
To complete the route, competitors must:
- Clip every quickdraw in order as they climb (1 → 2 → 3, etc.)
- No skipping quickdraws is allowed
- If you climb past a quickdraw without clipping it, your score will stop at that point unless you climb back down and complete the clip
- Quickdraws will be marked with colored tape to clearly identify the correct clipping line
- To top the route, you must reach the final hold and successfully clip the final anchor
Tiebreaker: If two competitors reach the same highpoint, the competitor who completes the route in the fastest time will place higher.
