Q: How old do I have to be to compete in finals?
A: All ages are eligible to complete in finals. Be aware that finals will be competition style boulders which tend to be more challenging for smaller bodied climbers. We will do our best to set for climbers of all ages.
Q: What prizes will folks be competing for in finals?
A: TBD
Q: How will someone know if they’ve made it to finals?
A: The top 2 people per category per gym will be invited to compete in our regional finals event. This means 16 people from each gym will compete in finals for a total of 96 finals competitors! Eligible competitors will be emailed and must respond back before the indicated cutoff to reserve their spot! Failure to confirm by the designated time will forfeit their finals spot to the next person in line.
Q: Can anyone spectate at finals?
A: Absolutely! Members will enter for free, competitors can each bring in one free guest, and everyone else will receive a half-priced day pass!
Q: What will the finals event be like?
A: Finals will be an on-sight competition staged in multiple waves, with the scoring and competition format following similar to USA Climbing's Onsight competition rules. We’ll have vendors, food, and a Dj – come join the party!
Q: If a non-member made it to finals, will they need to purchase a day pass to attend?
A: Nope! While we won’t grant free access to non-members who would like to participate during the qualifying event, anyone that makes it to finals will get in free of charge.
Q: Is finals scoring different?
A: Yes! Finals will be scored in an on-sight format. Each finalist will receive a scorecard and a judge will watch as they climb. Their point total will be pulled from where the competitor fell on the route.
Q: Must climbers bring their own belayer to finals?
A: Nope! Bouldering does not require belayers. We will however have dedicated "brushers" at the ready to clean the holds when needed!
